Hey guys... So I was thinking about spellings for my name(s). I was wondering, if you saw the name "Petre" how would you think to pronounce it? Just like Peter or something else?

Do you know of - or can you think of any - variant spellings of the name Peter?

Just a thought. Changing it would make it more unique, but also more challenging for people to decipher.

    Thanks.

I think Petre would be easy to pronounce, people spell metre and centre that way quite a bit.

When I initially read it, I saw it as Pet-ra. It could just be because I have never seen it spelt that way before  personally I prefer Peter however, very strong.

I like Petre. There would be chance of people thinking it's a variant of Petra so pronouncing it that way instead of Peter. But, if that doesn't bother you, then why not? If it's something you like and feel is the right name/spelling, go for it.

Pey-trey is my first instinct honestly. But I like the Petre spelling better cause I think it's more interesting to see than Peter.

I hear Pètre when I see it, seeing as it looks French with the ''re'' at the end. Sounds really close to ''piètre'', if you ask me. I can't speak for English speaking folks, though, but for me, it sounds weird as an English name.
