So I have gotten to a point in my transition (FtM) where I feel like I can pass comfortably enough that I won't have too many suspicious looks if I walk into the men's room, and that's great, but I have a concern and I'm hoping to find out if it's something I should worry about:

So imagine you go into the restroom and from the stalls you hear the sound of someone taking a leak, not using a urinal. Not a big deal at this point, but suppose you can see their feet pointing away from the toilet. Not standing facing toward it.

Is this a dead giveaway? I had one female friend say that her husband would sometimes do this if he had to do do both and didn't want to bother with standing up and turning around, but I don't feel like one second-hand testimony is enough. Would this be something that would arouse suspicion? Should I stick with only single stall and unisex restrooms for now? (I am basing this on the assumption that any given public restroom may potentially have an aggressive transphobe. Better safe than sorry.)

Who says you are only peeing when sitting to use the bathroom?

So you don't think it's suspicious then? That's a relief, no pun intended.

    Going to be blunt.

Dudes have to shit too. And it's bad form to shit in a urinal.

I wouldn't just sit to pee. Milk it a little. Pull toilet paper to make it look like you're handling the paperwork.

I think you're worrying too much about this

I, and probably the majority of guys, don't look at feet or want to think about what everybody is doing in there

I guess my initial question should mostly have been "Do cis guys ever sit to pee" but I think you've addressed that. And thank you for the tip, I'll take a little longer and play up the paper when I use the guy's room. Thank you very much, mate.

    Always a pleasure to help.

And HM is right. Don't think many guys are looking at your feet while in the bathroom. They probably are focusing on the toilet.. or sitting down themselves.

As an MTF beginning to transition, I still use the men's bathroom for safety. I sit to pee all the time instead of using the urinals, and nobody comments or notices or seems to care.

    You'll be fine

It's not totally unheard of for guys to sit when peeing for various reasons.

It's worth keeping in mind, too, that there is a rule of Men's Room Etiquette: Ignore what others are doing.

On the crapping while peeing theme... Perhaps one could have a device to play a recording of loud flatulent sounds, with an occasional loud plopping into water noise. Done right, no one else in the restroom will want to inquire as to what's going on.

I'm ftm too, and from what I can gather a lot of men actually sit to pee? So you shouldn't be attracting any attention, plus men don't really pay attention to that stuff like women do? Like the ladies will chat and socialize in there but generally guys do what they need to do then get out
