I'm going to see a gender therapist next week and hopefully I'll start transition soon. The only problem is I'm in the dark, I have no clue what to expect. Can anyone who is transitioning or already has give me some idea of what to expect. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Right now, I'm currently doing two things:

Talking to a lot of therapists and, when I'm lucky and they have the time, a gender therapist.

Having to contact my insurance about this, as they like to go back and forth about parts of it. They consider things like therapy as okay, but anything getting closer to being directly about transitioning, they start to say it's a specialty or a cosmetic; basically, they don't want to cover it. So, I've had to fight them a bit on that.

Beyond this, I'm told I'd talk to some specialist, maybe to get an idea of how I am medically. That sort of stuff. But for the moment, I'm trying to get through this first hurdle.

But the good news is, I've had to come out to several people, which makes great practice. So, there is that.

I don't know about HRT or anything, but I have been to a gender therapist. It's not that big of a deal. They just ask questions about what you would ideally look like, signs from your childhood, how you figured it out, how bad your dysphoria is and how it manifests, and whatnot. Then they're like, yeah you're trans and get you a letter and you can do some blood tests and get estrogen after a few months (depending on wait times).

So that's the part I've never really understood. Therapy is required isn't it? And what if you can't remember your childhood? Like in my instance, I can't remember a lot of it (which may be because I don't want to, but in general my memory really sucks. You could guess what I did last summer better than I could).

For me, I'm still questioning a lot. My dysphoria centers largely around my breasts. But I'm not too keen downstairs either. And until recently I haven't questioned my gender too thoroughly. Though I am in my mid-late teens. So I'm not sure how much that affects all of this.

Yes it is required because you need a recommendation to get hormones and surgery.
I can't remember my childhood either, all I know is I've been at military camp the past 3 summers. My biggest problem is my voice and the shape of my body but I want top and bottom surgery also.
