So I'm just looking for a way to express my name in a more gender neutral way that doesn't sound ridiculous. My name is Cortni. I was just wondering if you guys could come up with something I'm missing as a gender neutral version. Cory is a nope. Too masculine for me. I want something less girly, that could be unisex, but not TOO masculine either. I can handle mild masculinity. If there is a right version for me I'd really appreciate help in finding it, thanks

I disagree about Cory--it is a neutral name in alternative spellings: Corrie, Corey, Cori (short for Corinne). I also knew a Cort.

What about Niki? That's kinda unisex and the CortNI leads into it, kind of... Idk, just a suggestion.

    Best of luck to ya!

thanks for the suggestions but honestly I wanted something I could use as a nickname without making it obvious that I changed my name if you know what I mean. I want to start presenting more gender neutral but at the same time don't feel committed enough to choose something entirely different

Alex is extremely gender neutral. Alexis, even. I've known several males and females whose names were Alexis.

EDIT: Oh, I read your post wrong. Hold on, lol.

You could do Kory. A lot of girl names begin with K, but the "maleness" of the name is still there.

I'm having the same problem. My name's Nicole, and I hate Nikki and other derivatives. Part of me likes Alex, but I don't know... names are a pain in the butt.

I like messing about on magicbabynames.com because they have a section for unisex names that's very simple to navigate XD May be it'd be helpful if you tried, If nothing else, it's a laugh. Type in your favourite TV/Book characters and see what you end up with. Maybe you'll find something you like!

Try Nikko? or just make it up ahah Nika or something. See, you have a normal name with normal shortened versions. I have a really weird name to begin with ahaha

What about using your first and middle initial?

I think initials would be really cool.

    Cortni could be nicknamed as:

    Cort (pronounced as "court")
    Corin
    Cory/Cori
C + (middle initial, such as CJ if your m.i. started with a J)
    Corty/Corti
    Cortin

Personally, I love the way "Cort" sounds. It's also a direct derivative of your original name.

Do you know what else is really annoying? Finding a name that you really like and then finding out that it's pronounced a different way to how you thought XD I just find that with the name Abrey, which I thought was pronounced 'Ay-brey' rather than 'Ah-brey' :/ NAMES ARE A PAIN IN THE BUTT.
