I'm going to keep this as short and sweet as I can. I'm a transguy looking for a decent haircut. I don't expect a perfect cut, but I don't want one I'll look ridiculous is. Problem is I know absolutely nothing about haircuts and styles. Every time I go to a stylist/salon, I just tell them how much I want hacked off. Currently my hair is barely above my earlobes, but it's still not short enough for my liking. However, I have a chubby round face, which is making me hesitate to cut shorter and because I don't know how to find a better cut. I've tried looking online and it's useless. If I go into a shop, I'll probably spend hours glimpsing through pictures, asking annoying questions, and figuring things out.

    So help please.

I'm not sure if this also matters, but my hair is like a dark brown, sort of auburn as it has some red tinting in it in certain lighting.

I basically got an androgynous/ pixie look and snipped it a little myself around the ears and bang area until I got something I could live with (at least until I can come out or move out). There are some FTM websites like Hudsons that have great general info about guy's styles and things to avoid. You could also try getting a knowledgable friend to help you. Good luck!

Hudson's Guide has a section on hair and styles that suit different face shapes. Maybe check there?

For me, I looked up styles I liked and brought it in to the salon I went to and they took it from there. For me, my first hair cut was mid 2000s era Gerard Way and my partner's was David Beckham inspired.
