Hey guys :smilewave Just need some thoughts. I've sat on thinking about a name for a while before I change it. I know that I want to, but I'm still unsure about which name to use... I'd prefer neutral or male sounding. My current name is 'Ashleigh'. I'd like something close to that. Right now, I'm thinking maybe Asher? Or Ashe? but I don't know if this is too feminine in spelling still? Thanks for any help--! :icon_bigg :help:
- Ashley - Ash - Lee The next two are taken from letters in 'Ashleigh' that don't sound like 'Ashleigh' - Layton (from 'lei') - Sheldon (from 'shle') Hope this helps. Choose something that suits you and you like, maybe talk to parents if you think they'd be accepting and offer some good advice. But it's ultimately your decision.
Asher or Ashton are my favourite from Ashleigh. Theyre both very neutral with Ashton leaning towards male. You can shorten them to Ash too. Like someone above said, the spelling Ashley is also more male. I know two Ashley's that are guys. Damn I'm kind of jealous of your birth name. So many cool derivatives!
Thanks for the suggestions so far! There are a few I didn't even think of before. Haha, thanks Aberrance! I did consider Ashley too, but I've only known females who have used it. It's still something I'm thinking about though. ---------- Post added 30th Mar 2016 at 10:34 AM ---------- I don't think they would be
Personally, I like Asher or Ash. It has a very nice tone. Here are derivatives of 'Ashleigh' to throw out: > Ashlin or Ashlon > Ashton > Ash > Asher Or, following a less rigid similarity (with a few prior listed): > Asa > Asaph > Lee/Leigh > Alton > Layton > Allen > Shell/Chell > Sheldon > Aleigh/Allie/Ally ("al+lee")
Good unisex names for Ashleigh is Ash, Ashley, Aston, Ashton. I like Lee too. Many people already gave you good names. Hope you find a name. I like Ash the best though.
I think Ash, Ashley, Ashlon, and Asher stand out as my favourites so far. Thank you so so much for the help-! :icon_bigg Just a couples of questions... About Ash - Does it look feminine if you see it spelled the Ashe way? Like if I used one of the longer names as my legal and Ashe as a nickname on social media or whatever sort of thing? Ash seems a little short against my last name And is there any way that family would know that I changed my name too? I'm thinking it's only if someone saw my license or passport or something? Sorry for all the questions :eusa_doh:
