I've been trying the name Alex for about a week now, because I've always loved that name. It doesn't really seem to be a good fit, though. Another name I really like is Luca. Here in The Netherlands it's kinda gender neutral, but more often used for boys. I like that it's sometimes used for girls because I'm thinking there's a chance I'm not ftm, but more genderfluid. Anyway, I was wondering what the name's like in other countries, because I want my name to be okay for a guy internationally. Anyone who can help out?
From Wikipedia: And yes, from what I know, Luca seems to be a unisex name in the US. Don't know about other countries though, but from what Wikipedia says it seems to be the the same way for them. So if you like this name, go for it! I also am thinking of having a more masculine, yet unisex name. Funny coincidence!
I know a couple of people called Luca, both male. I haven't heard of it used as a feminine name in the UK before.
Yup, Luca is a gender neutral name here in Germany. It's mostly used for boys though and was pretty popular in my generation, but nowadays is more and more used for girls as well.
Luca certainly has a masculine tone, and tis a very nice name at that. I think you should definitely go with it, if you like it.
I like it. It isn't a common name here and I've never heard it used on a girl, but I wouldn't find it strange. Alex is a nice name but sooo common especially for transguys it seems.
Thanks for the answers! Think I'll try Luca. My parents would definitely agree on that one, since they regret not giving me Lucia as a middle name and it has the same meaning. So yay
