I've been getting more and more curious recently about the idea of completely shaving my chest - I don't really know exactly why this is - I'm curious as to how I'll look, how it feels and also how clothes feel on me. I know it's a bit strange, I don't really know WHY I want to do it - but it dawned on me that I've only ever known myself with a hairy chest - I think that it makes me look old, and ugly - I'm also a little afraid of what I might find underneath - I'm not super hairy but probably have more hair than average. Has anyone else shaved their chest after a life time of growing chest hair? how did it feel? is it hard to do?
It feels weird at first. Kinda like if you always wear an undershirt with your dress shirts, but then one day you decide to go commando. You get used to it pretty quickly.
the feeling is amazing..... especially if your wearing something soft or silky right after you shave, even a soft cotton tee shirt feels like the finest fabric ever made.
Wow, now I'm so tempted! I did wonder about how a tshirt would feel, but I actually hardly wear any - I wonder how tight clothes (in general) would feel after shaving I guess
you'll get stubble, certainly by the next day, so tight clothes would feel a bit "scratchy?" but for me its totally worth it. I hate having body hair but I love feeling smooth.
I do shave mine occasionally, however I do not have a very hairy chest. I have a few hairs on the middle of my chest, around my nipples, and more around my stomach. As far as shaving my chest and nipples I think I do it just for the sake of doing it. When I shave my stomach, which is less often, I do like the rubbing my belly and feeling it smooth.
I did it! It feels unbelievably weird, but nice, I actually cannot believe how young I look under all the messy hair, its almost freaking me out, I really didn't expect it. Not too itchy at the moment, but definitely weirds me out when I look at myself in the mirror in the morning
I shave, front and back and down there, usually once a week and its a real pain although i much prefer it to being hairy. My best friend is female and does waxing etc and as we are off the the Canary Islands together next month I am going to let her do it before we go..... must admit i am terrified even though she demonstrated on herself and didn't flinch
I just did away with almost all my body hair recently (as in, a few days ago). As Sarah suggested, for me I had stubble the next day, which is kind of dysphoric. However, I only shaved because my waxing kit is still in transit. This may sound a little silly, but while I'm not looking forward to the pain, I feel like there's some value for me in the waxing. Females-at-birth go through a lot of pain that males-at-birth don't normally experience, like menstrual cramps, birth(!), and in some cases a lot of plucking and waxing, and anything that helps me better understand my female side (I'm bi-gender) is really useful. Facial waxing is said to be more painful, and I'm not sure about that yet, but the idea of being able to take away the extra hair and have it stay gone for a while is very appealing. ---------- Post added 12th Dec 2016 at 12:55 PM ---------- A note: I was trying to add an exclamation point in parentheses, but the forum system interpreted that as a dancing banana. I really don't think that birth is likely to feel anything like a dancing banana and wish I could edit the post!
Update: I bought a waxing kit and tried it and had messy and very unsatisfactory results. I'm sure it would go better if I were to improve at it, but it's still a big pain. But then someone here on this forum suggested looking into epilators. So much better! I got a Braun Silk Epil 9. They're as painful as waxing, but in a somewhat different way, so for some people they're easier and for some people harder. For me it felt about as painful, just differently arranged. But I don't have to melt wax or clean things up or any of that! I just run the epilator over my skin and it takes the hair out by the roots. Over time, it's said to get easier and much less painful. It's definitely been painful so far, but not unbearably so. I really recommend looking into this option as an alternative to home waxing! It's cheaper, neater, easier, more flexible, and grabs shorter hairs (Braun boasts that it will remove hairs as small as a grain of sand). It's not incredibly easy or comfortable or foolproof, but it is pretty great.
me too,for a couple hundred. might be swingable, to get that ability would be great, if it works as advertised.
