I'm pretty sure I asked this question a million years ago, but I can't figure out what pant size I would be in male clothing. I, know, dumb right?

I know what shirt size I am, so that is easy. But the measuring system for men's pants is tricky for me. I don't want to go into a clothing store and try everything on the rack! Lol. It is embarrassing already to be hanging around the guy's section for me anyway.

Any simple advice would be appreciated. I'm sure this has been a common issue for many. And I can't use the "it's for my brother excuse." Everyone here knows I don't have a brother!

google search the mens equivalents in womens sizes. That should give you a ball park and then at most youll have to try one above and one below. If you really don't wanna try anything on, you can measure your waist and look at the size guides online for the trousers/jeans you want to buy look at what the exact waist measurement for each size is.

And I never use an excuse. I go in a buy things. It starts off being really nerve racking but its suprising how little people care.

What size pants do you wear in women's?

Men's are actually easier though. I wear 29/32 (though I'm working on 30/32 since starting T). I think I was like a 6 in women's. My waist is about 28.5 inches. The first number is waist, second is inseam. It's likely you'll need a waist size a bit larger than your actual waist especially if afab. For inseam, measure from the groin to the top of your foot.

There is still room for error though. I'd try on the size your measurements say, and the size below and above it.

Also, much like women's clothes, keep in mind different fits/brands will sometimes fit differently. But mostly things are consistent.

Also check to see if they are relaxed fit, regular, carpenter, etc. because they will fit differently.

Relaxed fit is more roomier and a little bit longer than a regular fit sized jean for example. Carpenter jeans also seem to be a bit looser than regular too.

Slim fit are my personal fave. Or were. Not skinny jeans, but still a bit on the tighter side. Think between regular and skinny. Very stylish look, that seems to be quite in right now(for good reason).

Skinny jeans and SUPER skinny are basically just women's jeans that are marketed to men. But they are popular and "in" right now.

Thanks everyone. That all makes sense. I'll give it a go when I next venture out shopping. :icon_wink

Measure your waist and inner leg. That's pretty much it. I wear 33 to 34 inch waist and 32 inch leg. 30 inch leg is for the shorter guys and 34 inch for around 6ft and up. I'm 5ft 8.

I was needing this advise too since I need to buy pants with actual pockets. Only problem is I don't have a fabric measuring tape. And I don't think my normal, metal tape measure is gonna work. It did give me my inseam though

I get what you mean about wanting bloody pockets. Women's trousers have no pockets. Literally don't even mention it to me I will go on some rant where I link pocket size to the patriarchy or something and try to make all women boycott women's jeans. I don't really see the point of women's jeans at this point.

Your waist measurement is your mens pants size.

I never found that measuring the actual waist measurement works ... Maybe it's just my body but it's more like, an upper hip measurement. I had a 27 waist and wore 30x30

depends on the brand. There are options if you look for them. It's a lot worse in juniors. I wear AE jeans and they have pretty decent sized pockets (which tbh I never use...) you could at least for a card or small phone in there (front pockets)

Yeah I have a little more than a card to hold in my front pocket. I want my phone, my wallet, my keys, my uni card all in there. Also I wanna be able to fit my actual hand in my pockets if I want to! Just a hand! Women's pockets usually fit my fingers at most. As far as I'm concerned, its not a functional pocket if you can't fit your hand in it.

Honestly I don't find men's pockets all that functional either. Stuff falls out constantly.
