I would personally hang them, I've always preferred it that way to throwing them in the dryer to avoid anything that may happen (I could just worry a lot over it).
I always just throw them in the dryer. If you want them to last longer, hand washing and air drying may be better. Are they nice ones or the cheap kind? I buy most of them cheap so I don't lose my mind when they inevitably rip, lol.
I wash mine in individual mesh bags and machine wash. I think I wind up alternating between drier and line.
Inexpensive polyester/fleece ones I put in the dryer. Other wise the cat hair wouldn't come off, lol! Expensive ones(mine are some bamboo thing), I hang them to dry. Draping them over the hanger from the crotch-area will cause them to not wrinkle or look weird(lol, I can't describe it but googling it will help)
I have both the kind designed for running (polyester and spandex) and dance (cotton and spandex) and air dry both for safety.
