Just got out of court for my name change. I was nervous, but the judge was really nice, only asked me the bare minimum questions, I didn't have to say anything about being trans, I wasn't misgendered or anything, and there was only one other person on the docket who happened to be a (rather cute) transwoman around my age. So I felt much more comfortable being there as a transperson since I was in the majority haha. We didn't talk or anything, just awkwardly avoided eye contact, but still. I wasn't expecting it to go so quick and smooth. I only filed a few weeks ago and I was in and out of the courtroom in less than ten minutes, most of that was waiting. I was kind of surprised at how emotional I felt after. It was a much more dramatic moment for me than starting T. I've hated my name for as long as I can remember. Now I just have to go alert social security and whatnot. Agggk I'm so happy. This was always meant to be my name.
You must be feeling pretty good right now. My congratulations to you Patrick. One more brick in the wall, right?
Do you even realize what this means? Now when people try to reach you on the phone and they haven't heard about your name change, you literally get to say "no, this is Patrick."
Congrats Patrick! It's awesome to see how far you've come. I'd suggest making a list of all the places you've got to change your name with, can guarantee you'll miss a couple haha
Hey, congrats! I know sometimes judges can be blinded by their personal bias above their job, so it's good you've found one with some sense. :icon_wink It's nice to hear positive things from time to time you know?
Omg you're right! ---------- Post added 24th Mar 2017 at 09:51 PM ---------- Good advice! Where I live you actually have to publish notice of your name change in the newspaper for three weeks before you can change it with social security, birth certificate or the DMV. But yeah there are a million places I'm sure. The bank etc.
Congratulations... from one Patrick to another. Now you can experiment with a new signature. Such a good name for creative signature signing.
I can't believe I saw this so late WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
