So, my male dog humped my male cat who is WAY too fat to try to run if he wanted to. He's done it before, I think it's an attempted dominance thing, but my roughly 10 month old dog was neutered as a little puppy and there is no way he would know what he's doing.

Somebody mind telling me how I can get my dog to stop? I mean, if he was humping another dog it'd be different, but it's not even the right species!

Just discourage that, yell at him (not abusively, but sternly) becasue it is a dominance thing, and (especially with dogs) needs to be stopped, it could lead to some fights and such.

My dog did that all the time XD

EDIT: yell was the wrong word, but you know what i mean.

I wouldn't lose any sleep as to why, since I think it is usually a dominance thing. However, the dog needs to stop indulging in that habit. I'm surprised the cat doesn't turn around and smack the dog with its paw and claws. Even a sterilized female dog might do that to a person's leg. They don't know what they're doing. That's what makes them funny.

You know, my dog's weird like that too. I'm the gay dad of a gay dog. Whenever he sees another male dog, he gets a huge erection (if that's what they call it when a dog has one). I have a male Doberman and a female German Shepherd. He used to mount her when he was younger (he's 5), but now he shows interest only in male dogs and male humans.

On an unrelated note, this is my 777th post. Never thought it would be about this subject!

Who'd've thought that a website desined for GLBT life issues, would ask other members for advice on their animals. LOL.

This is a good explanation of why this is happening. A Vet's Guide To Life: Help For Humping It has to do with the dog being mentally/emotionally overstimulated. You need to find ways to calm him down or tire him out. That way he will want to rest.

:roflmao:Is it wrong to laugh at this? Because if it is, I'm really sorry. This is the strangest thing I've read all day; in other words, just another typical day on the Internet.

I used to have a sluty hamster when I was a kid. He did not do anything really, but the way he looked sometimes... you could see the raw, animalistic lust in his eyes!
In the evenings when my parents left me alone in my room he came to the side of his cage and started to stare, undressed me with his eyes. Sometimes I just could not stand it anymore, I broke up and cried, I felt so sexually violated by that little perv. It still haunts me to this very day.

I've heard it called a "red rocket."

There definitely is homosexuality in the animal kingdom. It periodically makes the news. They had those penguins in a zoo somewhere that were a pair of males who possibly raised young ones. The only thing is that I don't think the other animals give it any thought. It would be interesting to see if animal behaviorists could determine if this affects the bonding, pods, pecking order, or whatever it's called.
