    Is there a way to upload pictures directly from a laptop without posting them to another website and using that URL?

    Click "My Settings" on the top left to get to your control panel, then click on "Pictures & Albums".

    If you want to post a picture on a thread as a reply, there's the Manage Attachments option on the "Go Advanced" page when posting - you can upload there and it will appear on the post.
