I love that article more than words can describe. I hated when I first read it, but that was because they were truths I needed to hear. That article was one of the factors that pushed me out of my development slump to be the person I am today. Definitely something everyone should read.

I agree with those above; an excellent article. Comprises essential lessons I learned the hard way.

    Read it and learn!

I read that article when it came out, but yeah it is awesome. Holy crap, number one. It is EEEVVVVIIIILLLL. But if it is at the forefront of your mind, you can beat it.

The attitudes described in the article ran rampant in my grade. Would it be an understatement if I called the article 'harsh but true'?

I wouldn't even say it's harsh. The guy who wants you to close doesn't hate you; he just expects results because if you don't get them, somebody else will step up. To skate by in a job because you're a great parent is unfair to the person who has no kids, but is a better salesperson.

And yeah the larger world just wants your stuff, but that's why you spend most of your time around people who love you.

Reminds me of something my mom always says

"Life sucks, and then you die."

See, that's one of those excuses he talked about that'll keep you from making positive changes: "Why bother if life is going to suck anyway?"

Life can be fantastic if you work to make it that way. Life's default mode is sucking; living a good life takes work, and you're never going to put in that work if you're convinced it's all for naught anyway.
