Haha okay so I've come to the sad realization that dating apps are really hard to talk to people on. I've only had one guy try and chat with me. He wasn't looking for hookups and neither was I. I'm talking about "those apps."

What are my other options? No gay stuff in my town at all even though it's a big town. Can't really drive 70 miles to Tulsa or OKC to find something to do. Work is homophobic and not really any way to just meet gay people since I can't tell if someone is gay or not.

Geez, this Is way harder than I thought. :bang:

Sounds like my situation a bit. They seem like the only way I could talk to guys that may end up wanting to meet in person but most seem interested in hookups or are a distance away...

    Not interested in hookups. :\

I agree with the dating apps being horrible; you get discriminated in the most discriminated area, there are some hypocrites there. Or like you said, some only wanted a no-strings-attached-relationship and casual hookups.

As for meeting gay people, I do not have any idea of any other options.

Are you a college student? Since you only referenced work I am going to assume no.

In that case, do you like your job? What are your thoughts on moving to a new town?

Yep. I've been to probably a dozen different ones and they're all the same. I actually found someone who seemed pretty pleasant, was cute, lived nearby. So we decided to go hang out. He was the "I'm still living with my parents and not really out" type of guy so he seemed really innocent and new to it all so I figured that'd be perfect.

I go to pick him up (this made me iffy to begin with, I don't like picking people up, it makes me feel predominant, which I don't like in my relationships, call me weird.) There's small talk and before we even get to our destination he's all leg-rubbing.

Instant deal breaker. I very nervously and awkwardly got through the rest of the ordeal and told him I wasn't interested in that yet.

That's pretty much why I'm here, i think this is the best place to meet people and just talk that I know.

Never really tried apps, just some websites/forums, but they're either dead, or full of people looking for hookups only.

Try alternative social network sites. The ones that aren't so mainstream have a few decent people that aren't so focused on getting status likes and what not. Though, it can be hard finding someone near you.

I don't want to have to leave everything in my life to be able to meet other gay people. Why is It this hard? Haha

Lets all band together and make a new state. One where all the LGBT people live and we can all live in one big pride parade.

Wouldn't this be kind of a segregation? or would it be like Canada?
