I never questioned my sexuality until I was almost 15. I always just thought I was straight; I had crushed on boys since I was 11. But I never even thought about the gay thing being a possibility for me until a couple years ago. Does this make my queer identity less valid? Why didn't I ever think about being LGBTQ until recently?

"Does this make my queer identity less valid?"

If you discovered Chinese food when you were 60 years old having spent your entire life thinking you didn't like it, would you still like chinese food?

Why should it make it less valid, your feelings are your feelings, it doesn't matter when you discovered them!

We are what we are. Labels come later. I personally do my best not to try and fully label or define myself to others -- it just puts another limitation on who I am. Just be who you are, no one can define that for you!

I didn't start questioning my sexuality until age 14 and didn't come to terms with it until I was seventeen. Everyone figures it out at a different age, some know their whole life while others figure it out in their 60's. You're still just as much gay/bi/ect.

Ik this is a really old post but if anyone wanted an update, here it is:
I realize now that I never knew I was queer before because the type of girls that I like we're never around (I like the stereotypical lesbian look mostly :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: and I live in a small, conservative town). I started thinking about it intentionally (exploring my sexuality) so thats how i found out. i went to a camp this past summer and met this girl who was like Exactly My Type and she was gorgeous and just ugh. So yeah, now I know.

    I relatively recently discovered I was gay-leaning, don't worry I'm the same age
