Dog's missing and I need a hug

Discussion in 'General Support and Advice' started by MidnightWinds, Jan 23, 2014.

  1. Hi, everyone.
I've had this cute little poodle ever since she was born, and she's been my best friend for the past fourteen years and a half. I grew up with her by my side. When I went out of the closet just to be shoved back in, she was there for me; when I got in college, she was there for me; when I was happy or sad by whatever reason, she was by my side. People even joked she was my shadow, for she was always near me. And now she's gone missing. My family and I have already contacted the vet and the pet shop of the neighborhood, and some neighbors as well, and we're waiting for someone to call us.
Since she used to sleep in a corner for most of the day, it took us some time to realize she was gone. By the time we did so, it was dark and raining, and my dad and I borrowed my brother's flashlight to go looking for her. She's old and doesn't walk much these days, so we believe that she was either taken in by someone who saw her in the streets or that she ran away to find a hiding spot to die. Some dogs do that.
And to top my angst for losing the dog-shaped best half of my soul, my mother decided to start a fight over whose fault it was that the poodle had managed to run away - which, topping almost 20 years of bearing her extreme moods and alcoholism, made me sadder.
Now I don't want to go back home, even though I know I will. I just want my dog back, or to know what happened to her. Though I'm prepared to the day she dies, it's horrible not to know how she's doing, where she is, if she's being well taken care of.
Sorry about the random post, I had to say this to someone, and I don't like to bother people with my problems. I've been having a hard time trusting people since my first attempt to step out of the closet.
    I think I just really need a hug. :icon_sad:

This happened to my little guy about a year ago. After about 5 days we found him via the facebook page of a volunteer who takes in stray dogs. Keep looking, contact all the local places and I wish you all the best. (*hug*)

I'm so sorry, I hope you find her, or at least info about her, very very soon. This dog sounds like she is extremely important to you.... Hugs your way.

Never lost a dog... but I've lost a few cats because of thieves and a near by elderly housing complex.

    Hope everything turns out ok.

A BIG, BIG hug. I like dogs more than most people. so I understand. They're simple and they have big hearts. I hope that you find her and that you find peace.

She sounds incredibly adorable, and super attached to you. I'm sure you are in her canine thoughts.

I would try to contact the local animal shelters/ animal control in your area as well. Another idea is to put out a post on Facebook and ask everyone to share it. You could even try to put out flyers to see if anyone has seen her. I hope you get your dog back and I wish you the best. You could even try putting an ad on craigslist saying missing dog with info and her picture.

Did you walk her a lot? Was there a place she seemed to like? Did you check there?

  16. Great news, everyone! Just got a call from the pet shop guy and he knows who's taken in my little shadow. She's on her way to the pet shop now, and so I will be in 5 min, when I leave work.
Thank you, everyone, for your hugs and support, I really needed that to go through yesterday. I love you all, people (&&&)
