I was wondering if you need a pianist for a college audition. I'm having a college audition for band and I was thinking if a pianist is necessary. I myself think that I wouldn't need one because my solo audition is short. Is it wise/necessary?

What is the audition for? And without knowing, I highly doubt it. An audition is about your performance, and the effect would be diluted with background music.

I would check with the college that you are auditioning for. Some like you to have a pianist, others do not. I usually like to go without because I feel that the pianist is an extra distraction. That's just me though
