Hey everyone! I have the weirdest habit I've really begun to notice. I'll pick something up, get really invested in it, then out of nowhere I'll completely lose enthusiasm and move onto the next thing. I'm not sure why I'm like that, but I think it's really problematic because it's left me with pretty much no follow through >.> Just since January... I picked up exercising, kept with it for about a month, then dropped it. I picked up some free online courses just to get a feel for education again, got half-way through the courses, then just stopped taking them. I've picked up starting random facebook conversations with people I know around my area, just to get a feel for being social, and then after awhile I sorta dropped that too >.> I've currently picked back up on writing. I can already in a sense feel my enthusiasm for it fading and I'm tired of half-doing things -.-' I just want to feel like I can muster up a bit of follow through for once >.> Anyone maybe have a helpful bit of advice about this?
You need mental focus. That or your activities aren't varied enough. Going at something intensely and only focusing on that one thing wears out any novelty. Like if I play a game or watch the same movie or listen to the same song even if I love it, it gets familiar and boring. Thankfully my job is constantly changing and never boring.
That could be it. I know I can't stand repetition. It drives me crazy, I can't even watch re-runs of shows most of the time 0.o I'm not sure. I think with writing I can at least play around with new things and ideas. I have a few stories I really want to get out. Some I've had in my head for a long time xD
Do you set goals or just say "I'm going to do _________?" If I say "I'm going to go to the gym a lot," that'll be harder to stick with than saying "I'm going to go to the gym 3 days a week for a half hour." Because then you can try and meet your goal and tweak it if it's not a realistic goal.
Set one goal for yourself next week. Something like: next week, I'm going to spend 30 minutes on the treadmill 3 days a week. And see how it goes.
Awesome. I find I'm so much less anxious when I have something clear I'm working toward, and I get more done. Maybe you'll discover you're the same. Good luck!
High mantenance yes I think yes but that's ok u like to start new a lot and things can get boring after a while
I agree -- it's much easier to reach a goal if you're specific about it. I know if I just tell myself to go to the gym more often I'll go once or twice a week. If I tell myself I can have two days off each week I'm pretty good at sticking to it once I get through the first few days.
