I think it's quite well known knowledge that they don't let just anyone in the music industry, and I want to be doing something while I get there. So is there any jobs to fall back on?
Hi there! You are only 14 years old, there is tons of time for you to figure out alternative career paths, and even if your current dreams are realistic and possible. That said, there are different ways to get into the music industry - depending on what you would like to do of course. As you go through school, and gain new experiences, you might very well come across something that you haven't thought about yet. Your interests and wants could change next year or the year after. Keep your current career goal in mind, but be open to other possibilities too, without declaring them to be bs already.
Just whatever else you like doing. If you don't know what that is yet, you'll figure it out n the next few years
Also, look into self-publishing. Pomplamoose went that route, and they've made quite a bit of money. They sell a lot less than a record company would, but they get 100% of the proceeds. You can see a TED talk by them here.
