I'm shaking really bad and bawling my eyes out even as I type this.

I went to church this morning. I love my church. It's a big, community church that doesn't really judge and seemed to accept anybody. Until today. A guest speaker named Ricky Chellete spoke to us this morning. He used to be a homosexual. He made it clear liking the same sex is bad, and relationships and love are solely between man and woman, and anyone who did otherwise would have to "deny themselves, take up the cross, and follow Jesus."

I love Jesus. I love God. I want to go to heaven. I try my best to follow the Bible and try my best not to sin. Once I found God, I stopped cutting. I stopped reading porn. I stopped thinking about killing myself. I really try my best not to sin.

But with this, I'm not so sure. I really want to do whatever God wants me to do, but I don't know if I can stop liking girls. That's the one thing I don't know if I can do.

I feel terrible. There's a follow up sermon in half an hour, but I'm not going. I know it's going to make me feel even worse.

I don't know what to do. How can I change a part of who I am, even for God? HELP PLEASE

There is no such thing as "used to be gay". you can't change who you are, you were born bisexual and nothing is going to change that. I don't know how involved you are with the church but you could try to find a different church if the one you are going to is so clearly homophobic. Personally, I don't believe in God, the church or Jesus so what the people at your church are saying is complete crap as far as I am concernd.

Don't try to change yourself, if you want to watch / read porn then do so. If you want to fancy girls then do so. Don't start cutting yourself again, or thinking about suicide this will not do you any good at all.

If you still want a church as part of your life then try to find a different one.

I think if you are bi then God made you that way. Give yourself some time to calm down and when you are feeling better you can think this through. There are many christians on this forum, and many views about Gods opinion of homosexuality.

There is one undeniable fact - he still is homosexual. Whether he admits it or not is another thing, but the idea that you can be ex-gay is ludicrous in the extreme. Your Church should not be giving him a platform to spout such rubbish.

Do not put so much pressure on yourself to please God. He loves you just the way you are. Jesus told us to Love God and love one another - there is no commandment greater than these... on these commandments hang all the law and prophets. So you can read the Bible from cover to cover, you can know passage after passage, word after word recited from memory, but all you need to know is love for God and one another. Jesus made it so easy for us and he didn't add any caveat about same sex love either.

You don't need to please God, you're already doing it.

He's full of it. He's still gay, and don't you believe for a minute that he isn't.

God is love. I'm a Jew, but even I know enough to know that Jesus ate with, sat with, walked with, talked with all manners of people, from rich to poor, good to bad, young to old. God loves you, no matter what. Don't let your love for God and your religious beliefs falter because of him and people like him.
