Sometimes I'm so afraid of the dark that I can't even move.
In every little shadow I see something...
And I can't help but every night I know something will come out of the dark under my bed and will grab my feet.
    Am I paranoid?
And what could I do to overcome this?

Paranoia of the dark is due to something happening in ur child hood to make u be scared of the dark. Mine was when I was 5 my brother acted to be a ghost which scared the living crap out of me, now I can't stand the dark

    Oh I can remember something.
When I was around 5 I think I saw a movie at a friend of my parents.
There was a girl standing in front of a bed and then a hand grabbed its feet and dragged it under the bed.
But it sucks when I just want to sleep and I can't.

Just remember the movie was scripted so the girl knew it was coming, and anyway is something was under ur bed, you would be able to hear movement, them to breathe etc, think of all the logical stuff before going to sleep

Remember that a supposed murderer or monster can't see in the dark either. Surely they'd just fumble about and bump into things.

When I think something down there could breathe....I think I would die.
I know there is just nothing and it's all cause my fantasy but I can't get it in my brain that there's nothing. I try to think bout logical stuff but it doesn't work.
Oh yay. Now I have to go to bed. That'll be fun.
    But thanks for your help:slight_smile:

Lol. That was cute bigboy95. Very logical and observant too.

Could always consider a little night light. No shame in having one. (^_~)

I don't need one - the ex is nocturnal so I've had to sleep with the light on for the past six years. A week ago I bought an energy saving lamp - it's awesome! Very bright. Doesn't help me sleep though - I gotta cover my eyes or just lay with my back to it.

Right, been awake 17.5 hours - I gotta go to bed. Good night and don't forget, night light, all the cool kids have one!

Yes, a nightlight is a good choice, but you might also try without one since sometimes nightlights create strange shadows and pitch black darkness at least means you can't see anything. You could also keep your eyes always closed. When I was young and afraid of the dark, I would try to lie really still and quiet. Eventually, I would go to sleep. I think just being regular in sleeping will help you to go quickly to sleep.

Also, try to avoid eating too late or watching scary movies/TV just before going to bed.

What also might help is protecting your feet, what I mean by this is, tucking ur duvet in at the bottom on the bed around he edges of your mattress. And before you go to sleep speak out my feet are protected , my feet are protected, it could help you get that thought out of your head or think of something that made you really happy. A Christmas present, a day out or the recent holiday you can remember
