So, my life is getting twisted around and squeezed right now. This part of the grading term is called the 6 Weeks Slaughter... Well, it's right....
So last week, we started reading Lord of the Flies in English. Well, two days later, during a discussion, about 3 or 4 people were sitting in the back on their phones. My teacher lost it and has been treating us like :***: ever since. The next day, he gave us a thick as hell packet over a short story we had to complete by the end of the day. Then (thank god) he gave an extension. And we had to write an essay. So, I finish the essay and turn it in, then I'm almost done with the packet, when the due date was that day. It was near the end of the period so I just said screw it and turned it in with 2/6 unfinished half page essay questions. So, I figured I would be alright. Wrong. He graded it hard and counted the essay questions much much more than the others. So now, according to my nosey ass friend, I'm making a 70 (C-) in his class! When before it was a ninety-something. Even though it was randomly for a major grade, I figured it would be all right.

But, now, I'm at risk for not qualifying for a program through our insurance company that rewards young drivers with lower rates. This is a problem because, well, we're poor. Without it, we might not be able to afford insurance at all! And I need my license because we are poor. To get to work once I get a job. If I had the discount, more of the money would go to us instead if the insurance company. We need the money so that way we can live and rest easier. And this one bad grade could ruin it all, and there's not much time left because he's out tomorrow, and then Wednesday, and we get out early on Thursday, no school Friday, the end of the grading period.
    Help me please.
PS forgive me for any spelling problems, I'm sleepy as hell fight now...

I'm sorry to hear that your teacher was so unreceptive. :\

The only suggestion I have is this: teachers have a great amount of discretion in grading. Ever-so-diplomatically-and-tactfully, you could try and ask him what you can do to improve your grade?

Try to remember: he's trying to help you succeed! So I think, if you are earnest and truthful with your goal to improve, he'll be very receptive to your goal.

I avoided any discussion of the grade he gave you simply because advocating your cause through the "I didn't deserve this" statement won't help endear him to you.

I'd echo emkorora. Talk to your teacher, and if that gets you nowhere, talk with your guidance counselor and explain the whole situation with regard to the finances and the importance with your grade. Perhaps if the teacher refuses to budge, some other teacher where you have a B would be willing to let you do some extra work to bring it to an A to offset the C.
