No, a couple of years isn't a big deal.
I don't know exactly how this educational system goes, but we have a freshman at the university who's over 40 and a couple of others in their 30s.

No. I knew multiple people, some who even had kids, who started college later. Actually, some of them were the hardest working students I met.

There was a guy in my freshman comp 1 class that was in his late 50s. I, myself, started college at 21.

You're never too old to further your education.

I was 27 when I went to college full-time. I'd been to community college much earlier but took time off and worked and did other things in between.

Nobody cared. I got along great with my classmates, made a lot of great friends. And, like Sacrastic Luck, there were a couple of people in their 40s and 50s who were in our freshman class as well.

At 20, nobody will even know the difference.

In my school, that would probably be pretty average, if not on the slightly younger side.

At any rate, you're not going to get any younger, so don't wait if you still want to be "young" when you go! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It may depend to ban extent on the institution, but generally I'd say you will find all ages at a university. When I started I was 17 and there were students in my classes between 18 and 50. It was good having a more mature perspective brought to the discussion and they valued the younger kids input. Honestly, the more homogenized the class the less I got out of it.

Certainly not! You might be able to get better financial options out of it for being classifiable as a non-traditional student depending on your situation.

Thanks everyone! I'll be turning 16 in a few months and I'll be turning Grade 9. I stopped two years of my basic education and now am facing the consequences of my poor decisions, poor quick whim decisions!

Thanks for the moral support by the way. I'd be very happy to know someone who's 16 and Grade 9.

I was 16 and in grade 9. I was homeschooled so it wasn't the end of the world, although people did get confused about it. Plus I looked older than my age lol. I ended up working my butt off and graduating at 19, not 20 (so I basically caught up one year) and going off to university right away. Here, people technically can start university at 19, so I was "on schedule," but in reality, many, many people are at least a year or two older than that. One of my friends started at about 21, the other one at 22 or 23. I have classes with a lady in her mid-40s (my estimate) and a head of white hair, among others.
