A very popular field, that's the only issue.

It's a good field to be in, albeit competitive. At the end of the day, it really depends on where you see yourself, and whether you feel it is something you would like to pursue. If the answer is yes, I'd say go for it.

    Thanks all (*hug*)
Thank you, and ya I would love to be an psychologist; some psychologist really helped me and changed my life to a better one and I'd like to be like them, it's really long path (here in Syria) first I need to study medicine for six years , is that period normal comparing to other countries ?

Yes, I would say it is pretty normal. In Canada for example, one would study 4 years in an undergraduate program and then enter graduate studies which will take a few more years then.

I can't research information on Syrian universities because of the language barrier, but are you sure it is six years in medicine specifically, because that sounds more like psychiatry than psychology? Though I am not familiar with the Syrian education system and it is completely possible that those fields could be combined there.

Yes I am sure I have just researched it; six years of general medicine or psychiatry as you said before I can specialize in psychology or any other fields related to medicine; they are combined.

Yea...not sure how it is in Syria, but in the US it's a popular major though very few people get their DR. in it so they can't really practice clinically without that...Those that do, it is rather competitive but if it's what you are truly passionate about as long as there is at least one position available on this earth, I say go for it!!

In the US there is a pretty big difference between a medical psychiatrist and a phycologist in almost every way (school needed, pay, work, etc.) I feel like that's universal...

Psychology is an interesting field and if that is where your heart lies you should do it. A quick question yo you out of curiosity. Psychology has various subsets. For example, clinical psychology, criminal psychology etc

    What are you interested in?

    Happy days
