I prefer the term gay over lesbian. I feel that when society says gay, they are talking about somebody who is LGBT, and to me it seems more real. But when somebody says lesbian, society thinks of two girls having sex, and how its ’hot’. No sense of ’these two people really love and care for eachother’, like when somebody uses the term gay. Just two girls making out and giving straight guys boners. Just some food for thought
as for the straight women liking gay men is i guess our "supposed" sense of style and can give them a compliment without wanting something out of it, as for them liking gay porn, dont get that either
It reminded me that every time I try to google for "lesbian + whatever" the results are mostly either Justin Bieber or lesbian porn.
I get your point OP. Women who are "gay" have an attribute that attracts them to other women. But ones who are "lesbians" are objects defined by that attribute. Not that it's actually true, but that does seem to be the opinion of too many.
I know what you mean, I prefer the word gay as well. The word lesbian is overused by porn industry. If you google "lesbian" you're more likely to find a porn site than glbt site.
i also prefer 2 call myself 'gay' over 'lesbian' because gay is also another word 4 happy. and i'm happy 2 be gay
Most straight guys are mystified by women in general or more to the point, they are mystified by the power their desire for women has over them (not mystified by the power of women - important distinction). So with straight men still dominating much of the imagery with respect to women in this society, the view of women from their perspective requires that it be from their perspective. Problem is the true image of women together in a relationship leaves them out entirely. So the end result is they either see women together as women in heat or they just don't see them at all. If straight men ever mature to the point where they can fully resect women as equals who have their own identity then maybe we can begin to hope they will let women in relationships together define themselves. You wouldn't think that was too much to ask.
