Your out status says you are out to your mom and best friend. Is this the friend or are you not out to this person? If you are not out maybe you should start by coming out to him first and see how that goes. If he reacts badly then you know that asking him out is not going to work. If he is accepting and supportive maybe his reaction will give you a clue to how he feels towards you or an opening to ask him out. Hope it works out well for you.
