So I've been trying to make a separate saving account to hide money away to move out of my parents house but so far , the bank told me I could just hide it away some my parents won' t see it if they stand over me I've tried hiding it but what they told me doesn't seem to work and I don't want my mom seeing that I have money hidden because she will make sure it drops to zero either by demanding more money for house whole bills .
I'm thinking I might need to go to another bank to hide away the money so no one will know but me . what should I do :help:

Could you just open the new savings account in the same bank and have the statements sent straight to email? That way there's no reason for her to know unless she sees your emails.

Go to a new bank, like Argentwing said get paperless statements. Tuck away as much as you can. If you really want to save up enough to move out then cut out non essentials. It's amazing how much money you can save!

    ---------- Post added 30th Jun 2014 at 09:04 PM ----------

Yes they told me that then they said I could use something on the internet to hide it but I won't be able to see how much money I have in it anymore .

I would go to a different bank then. Just try to save as much as you can I know I'm hoping to move out eventually and it's shocking how expensive it can be just to get to that point.

You can learn a lot on the Internet these days. Most banking institutions have a web site which includes full info about accounts, fees, etc, etc.

Stating the obvious, but one issue worth considering may be convenience. For example, if you plan to do a lot of in person transactions, then branch locations become an issue.

Finally, one bias I have: I prefer credit unions instead of actual banks. At my credit union, I'm a partial owner by virtue of having an account there. They exist to serve me. Whereas if that account were at a bank, I'd be--at best--a customer who is a profit base to benefit whoever actually owns the bank.

Sometimes, yes. Usually fees are more of an issue with checking accounts. But savings accounts sometimes hit you with fees, particularly if you go below a certain balance.

I'm a bit confused. How does she know what money you have? Do you work? Can you open a new account somewhere else and then get direct deposit of your paycheque? I would have thought you could opt out of paper statements and do all your banking online. Maybe something like ING Direct? Do you have that in the US?
I used to work at a bank here in Canada and they are very privacy sensitive. Must be the same there, no?
You're an adult. It's not like you're a minor - you should be the only one with access to the account.
Maybe you could take up some chore to pitch in and redirect her from thinking you need to contribute financially.
    Check a few financial institution websites to check fees, etc. Or get a job at a bank. A good one. ;}

she doesn't know yet but she might force me to see my account so I want to empty the saving out before that happens , my account can transfer money I never tried ING direct .
Not in my house my mom could threaten me which she would . she even forced my dad to show her his account when he refused .

Wow. Ok. She sounds like she has some serious issues. Yes - get a new account and a good job, if you don't already. (Oh. And go to bed.)

Well I'm going to ignore you now so you can't talk to me anymore but one final thing.
Go over to YouTube and look up Autogenic training a guided relaxation. It will put you to sleep. I mean, help you sleep.

Stocking, isn't there really any other place where you could stay? I mean like a share house or something? I don't know how much is rent in your area but maybe you could move somewhere where it's cheaper, idk. I'm kinda worried, you know. I really don't like you stay in such a controlling environment. (*hug*)
