Decided to see a psychologist

Basically what the title says. I've been meaning to book an appointment since the begining of this year but at the time, I felt I was alright. I could handle things...but now, I just don't know. :bang: My emotions are scattered everywhere and I just need to sort them out...and myself. My GP says I may be suffering from a mix of anxiety and depression based on other things that we talked about as well which I won't mention. :icon_sad:

*sigh* My first appointment is this coming Friday and although I'm relieved to be finally doing this...I'm terribly nervous at the same time. :help: Wish me luck?

I know how you feel. It's a really suffocating feeling. And it sucks.

    Good luck! (*hug*)

Good luck. I've been going to a therapist since the beginning of the year and it's really helped me through all the things I've gone through. I hope you find your experience to be just as helpful.

Thank you! It's really nice to know that other people are in the same boat (*hug*) Hope you're ok though.

Thank you so much! I'm just terribly nervous at the thought of pouring my heart out to a stranger..but my GP reassured that it wouldn't be like that. This is the nerves talking so I probably don't make any sense...:bang:

Therapy can be very nerve racking but it can certainly help.

    Good luck!!

    Hey MindVsHeart

What a great name! for me that says it all, if only mine could agree on the same thing once in a while things would probably be so much easier.

I wish you all the luck in the world when you meet your psychologist, not because I think you will need it but because I recognise what a brave step it is to take.

Personally I have only ever had positive experiences with my therapists and regardless of how scared and untrusting I have felt I have always come to love them and they have helped me overcome my nightmares and helped me to find inner peace.

I don't know how your psychologist works but if you meet with them and after several sessions you don't like them, and your sure its not because your avoiding something, then get another one! There's plenty more psychologists in the sea.

I wish you the best of luck. One of the best decisions I've made is going to therapy. Be really honest and work with your therapist so he/she can really help you.

This. Make sure that you really mesh with your therapist and it's okay to find a new one if you don't.

I'm planning to start going to therapy when I get back to uni in about a month. I should have started going last year but my anxiety held me back. Good luck!
