Recently I've been considering shaving off all my hair. I really hate my hair being so long, it makes me dysphoric, but my mum won't let me cut it short. However, if I told here I was going to shave it off for charity she'd probably be less opposed to it. I also really want to raise some money for charity as well.
It's something I think I want to do, but I'm worried that it'll take ages for it to grow back to even a short length.
What are your thoughts? How long, approximately, does it take hair to grow back?
    Thank you

Personally, From shaven it would take like 2 months to grow back to an average boys length but my hair grows quite fast.

I think it is a super idea. I really hope you can do it!

The lady above is right, hair tends to grow about 0.5inch a month, but it depends on your body, your diet, health, hair type, etc. If you don't like it, or are feeling nervous about it you can always wear a beanie hat until you are feeling more comfortable in your body- yay for winter.

do it, but make sure you won't regret it. It was never big deal for me, it grows back anyway. :icon_razz

Thank you all for your replies!
I hope that my school will let me do this because I'm really enthusiastic about it now!
I have a Hufflepuff beanie I have lovingly prepared for daily usage
On a serious note, I'm hoping to be able to raise some money for cancer research or another charity as well as being able to rock a beanie.

I've looked up ideas for androgynous styles, and for hair (and female-bodied persons) that hairstyle keeps coming up. Unfortunately, for me, short hair just solidifies my appearance as male.

Whoa there. How long is your hair? If your ponytail is long enough, you can donate it to charities that make wigs for cancer patients. Call a couple of salons around you to see if they do this. Kill two birds with one stone!

It depends on you actually... different peoples' hair grows at different speeds. But it shouldn't take more than 3 months to grow to average "short hair" length.

And it's nice that you want to raise money! good luck.
