Hello, my name is Richard. I'm new here. I live together with my partner 10 years already, but my family (and my life) is incomplete without children. Maybe here I can find some advices from people who already have kids or who is on the way to it

A man's sperm is put into a woman's egg without sex. A woman then acts a surrogate and carries the baby.

    Isn't it forbidden by law?

No. That explanation is a bit confusing. Men often "donate" (they do get compensated) sperm. There are sperm banks that collect, test, then freeze the samples for later use. The man gives up all his parental rights in this process.

People can then buy this sperm and basically have it squirted up a woman's vagina or into her uterus. She then (hopefully) gets pregnant and has her baby.

Straight couples use donor sperm, single moms, lesbian couples, etc.

In some countries, surrogates are an option. A surrogate becomes pregnant with a baby (usually using IVF and donor eggs) for a couple or individual. When she gives birth, the baby goes to the couple or individual who hired her. It is not legal in all countries.

Are you married couple? 10 years together it is a big term and it is not a surprise that after 10 years together you decided to have children. There are 2 variants for gay couples adoption or surrogacy...so it depends on you to choose.

And in what countries is it legal?

    ---------- Post added 2nd Dec 2014 at 02:04 AM ----------

We thought about adoption, but we still hesitate - the attitude to people like us is not always positive and even if it is not forbidden to give us a child, we have to fight for it much more than "traditional" couples and we cannot be sure in anything. Surrogacy seems to me now a better variant. But I don't know where to go

In the US it's legal, in the UK you need to get court approval to be identified as the legal parents, which is a bit of a process. Even if you find a surrogate in another country, once back in the UK the parents need to get a court to affirm their legal status as parents. Not sure for other countries.

And what about a woman who carries the child? Are there some legal guaranties, that she is healthy and a child will be healthy too?

If you google Surrogacy Clinic, you will find a bunch that work with families. You should call one and request a consulation.

Thanks. I did it yesterday and now I feel absolutely lost in the sea of information. So many clinics and their programmes are so different

And in price also. But for me legal aspect is also important. And I understand nothing in it. I don't want to have any problems
