I wasn't sure where else to post this. I'm just curious, what category I generally fall under. I've looked up a bunch of definitions and stuff and can't find one that exactly fits. Normally I don't look a lot into labels, but meeting women online, somebody always asks if I'm femme or butch, or how I identify. So, I feel like my personality is more butch, and I dress pretty casually, but ocasionally I put in some effort, and dress more feminine. I don't really do much to my hair, but I wear a little makeup. Someone once described me as a hipster/stylish lumberjack. So what do you think?
I don't think that should matter if they know what you look like or what your personality is like. I can't even tell if I'm a lesbian to begin with!
I have no idea what a stylish lumberjack looks like, but if a woman online asks you if you're butch or femme, definitely answer "stylish lumberjack." That's just so cool. More seriously, though, if you're not so keen on labelling yourself, or if you're not sure you fit any of the labels, why can't you just say that? I'm guessing you're neither butch nor femme, and maybe not any of the other labels. Plenty of lesbians are like you. It's kind of weird to expect everyone to fit a specific label in their gender expression/persona style.
You're you, if you want the short and sweet answer. But if you need a label to throw at people who ask, you sound similar to what many refer to as a chapstick lesbian. You're somewhere between a butch and a femme, just not quite as masculine or as feminine as either of those. Ellen DeGeneres is often said to be this.
I second that ---------- Post added 23rd Apr 2015 at 06:35 PM ---------- "Stylish lumberjack"... Oh that amuses me for a while LOL.
