I'm a lesbian and like to wear tank tops and shorts in the summertime. But I'm afraid of being sexualized, objectified, or just sort of looked at too long by guys. This does sometimes happen. Do you think it might be better not to wear these clothes in summer?
Yes, looks happen sometimes. But tank tops and shorts are summer clothes, and you live in the US. I highly doubt you'd be the only woman wearing shorts. It's what I wear in the summer -- always have. Civilized people are used to it. The people who will make comments are the type who would have commented no matter what you're wearing. And it's not because of what you're wearing. Being objectified is not your fault just because you're wearing a damn tank top. I say go for it. Try it once, just for a short walk. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, hey, you never have to do it again.
W W T H Y W :icon_wink (Wear Whatever The Hell You Want) It's not like you're wearing a clown suit. (And even if you were, it's YOUR choice) You dress for comfort. To hell with what others say or think. YOU'RE the one wearing those items of clothing, not them. So don't pay any attention to the people who make you feel guilty in a way, about what you're wearing. Unfortunately, anyone can and probably will be, objectified by someone. Do what makes you happy. And if wearing shorts and tank tops make you happy then go for it!
I'd say just be yourself and wear whatever makes you comfortable, anyone else shouldn't dictate what you wear. I also like wearing shorts in the summer and considering my legs are pretty hairy I get some looks too. Do I care? Nah.
Wear what you want and to he** with what anyone else thinks of it. It's your body, your life, do what you want.
I say wear whatever you want. Whether you wear a tank top or a turtleneck sweater if a guy is gonna look at you they're gonna look no matter what you are wearing. I wear tank tops and shorts in the summer it's hot and as long as I'm comfy I'm happy
One of the reasons I like to run in the woods: virtually no human sees me. The trees don't judge me. A squirrel may look at me, but not in a creepy way.
I thought I was the only one to consider tank tops extremely attractive garments. It may get you looks from boys, but it might also get you looks from girls.
