So, there are many posts on here that involve people using porn to help them find out their sexual preferences. Which totally makes sense, if you enjoy girl on girl porn more than girl on guy, you're probably gay. But I have never watched porn, and I don't have any desire to. Is this bad? I know that I am not asexual, but just the thought of porn or masturbating makes me feel very uneasy. I have been questioning my sexuality, and people have suggested watching porn to help me better determine. However, I just do not feel comfortable doing this. Does anyone else feel this way, or does anyone else have another suggestion to help me with my questioning?
How does porn determine your sexuality?? I'm a lesbian and I only watch male-on-male porn, as do many others. Porn just isn't your thing and It's fine. Whether it is or not though will not determine sexuality. Most lesbians hate girl-girl porn anyway.
Nah, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to watch porn or masturbate. A lot of people do it, but it's not necessarily abnormal not to. We live in a very sex-centric society, so it's easy to feel like you're "weird" if you don't focus on/think about sex as much as everyone else seems to. As far as other ways to figure out your identity, you can think about any crushes you've had in the past. Ask yourself questions about the people you've had crushes on & why you liked them.
Far too many people worry about sex related things, sex and sexual attraction is more dynamic than sexuality. I bet there'd be some interesting responses if there was a "what's your kink/fetish" thread! Yes it may be able to guide you towards your sexuality but you may enjoy masterbating to the opposite sex as much as the same sex and still be gay. It's not a line in the sand. Yes it is what made me realise I was gay, I saw gay porn for the first time when I was 12 and by the time I was 14 I was watching gay porn almost exclusively. But I still do watch straight porn now and again as it's the dick that I'm interested in!
