Hi, so I'm not sure really where to post this, but I have some issues with sex, as a whole and I think it's not entirely healthy. First of all, I am still a virgin and I don't like the way sex is thrown into my face, everytime I turn on the tv or look at a site. I also never feel the urge to relieve a certain aching... I can't even use the m-word, that's how much of a weirdo/prude I am. I am grossed out by the idea of men doing it especially. Once, in high-school, we went to watch this play and there was this guy constantly chatting about different ways to please himself and it really made me uncomfortable, while my friends enjoyed it.

Also, I prefer watching shows, which are PG-13, or sometimes even for kids, just because the relationships aren't constantly based around sex in them and they're sweeter or more romantic, which I really don't consider normal for someone in their twenties. Sometimes I feel like a pedophile for it. I can get intense feelings of jealousy/dissapointment, when certain celebs I once crushed on engage in casual sex on tv-shows, because I placed them on a bit of a pedestal and watching them act like that, really turns me off. When I find out something about people I love, which to me makes them lose their "innocence", I'm put off, for some reason. Though, if it's romantic and the result of a loving bond, I AM on board with sex.

Does this mean anything? I can like reading/ seeing sex, but only when two people have formed a strong connection. I don't like porn of any kind.

It's not unusual for females to be more interest in emotional connection rather than sexual. Although I'm a guy I find it... disappointing I guess when characters "give in" and start sticking their tongues down each other's throats, I just feels it kind of ruins the immersion sometimes. Also, if you're attracted to women remember that any ads and characters will be aimed to appeal to men, who are naturally more physically sexual.

I understand, in many ways I'm the same. I'm also a virgin and the idea of causal sex grosses me out. I have trouble building relationships because guys usually become far too touchy too fast.

It's not what you find exciting, rather the things that gross you out. If you're sexually turned on more by the emotional side of a relationship then that's really fine, but if you're refusing to watch your favorite show because sex scenes gross you out, I'd say you have a problem.

Pure, raw sex has been the basis of all life since living creatures have ever existed on this planet. This is true even for humans, close bonding between stable partners is a very recent development, and it's mostly a societal one, on a genetic level we are still the beasts that once roamed the land.

I used to really be like this, there could be some psychological issue. For me it was because I grew up religion and felt sex was shameful. There's nothing wrong with only liking romantic sex, but having a strong reverse reaction isn't normal.

I'm very similar to you, despite being older! I love romance much more than seeing just sex, it doesn't do much for me. I'm the type of person who fancies Androgynous people, so if the actors and actresses aren't andros then I will not be interested in them! This means I don't usually fancy very many people, which can be both a good and a bad thing.

Your feelings of jealousy could be because society puts so much pressure on young people to feel sexual, and the actors you like are on "your side" until they become too sexual? I can understand that

Well, I'm glad some people can relate to some extent. Seagypsy: you described some of the feelings I felt to a t, even though I usually get attractions to feminine, often straight women and only have a faint notion of what androgynous means.

Also, I want to clarify something: it's not like I feel the urge to throw up or immediately shut my tv off, every time casual sex happens. It just doesn't do anything for me. Like when one character just sleeps around the entire time, I really start to dislike them. I avoid watching e.g.: Grey's Anatomy, because all those people ever seem to do is dive into closets to get it on and they can't go without sex, for longer than a week, it seems.

My older sister, even though she's a virgin too, is way more accepting of this and our views clash sometimes, for that very reason. She calls me a prude and merely sexually frustrated, which really hurts me and pisses me off. I am NOT sexually frustrated. I don't even know what it means. Maybe once I engage in sex, I'll crave it more, but right now: I don't miss it. I just miss love and close bonds. Also, we were watching some movie and the guy wanted to postphone sex and she was like: " So, he's probably gay.", while I said: " Maybe he's just romantic and wants to respect the girl." and she chuckled: " Yeah, sure, like that ever happens." Sadly, she turned out to be right.:icon_sad:

I guess I'm just very naive in that sense, believing sex= love and I get more and more depressed and disillusioned with the world, when I see people's main goal seems to be getting into one another's pants and especially guys being very much about the physical element of the relationship, more than anything else. I value romance above sex and the latter is so much deeper and more intimate, when it gets accompanied by the former.
