I've been away from home for about a week now, I had lunch with my brother today and he told me my cat has just been hiding under my bed and hasn't been eating or using the bathroom :'( before I left, I noticed that she's been wanting to be alone and that I can feel her bones more than usual. Has anyone experienced this with their pets? I'm scared for her… she's around 14 years old too. I'm thinking of taking her to the vet soon

You'd better get her to the vet as soon as possible. The way she's acting sounds pretty serious to me.

When they hide they are sick. I hate to say it but it's most likely 'time'. 14 years is long for a cat and if she is losing weight where you can feel bones, that is not good. (((HUGS))) Get to the vets.

I think you should absolutely take her to the vet. It could be any manner of things, hopefully it'll be something that's easy to sort out - but the only way to know for sure is to take your cat to the vets. I'm sorry that she's feeling under the weather (*hug*) - hope she feels better soon!

I might move this to the "General Support and Advice" sub-forum for now.

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. :frowning2: I have a black one and I don't know what I'd do without her. I've had to go through that once before and it was horrible. Just be with her. Feel free to stop by my wall anytime. I'll talk fur babies with you. That helped me. (*hug*)

I recently lost a kitten to FIP, and it was absolutely devastating for me. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately it can be really hard to know how sick your cat is because they don't always act sick in a way humans see as serious. A cat hiding, becoming lethargic, or losing weight can be signs of serious problems, and they're all so subtle. I wish you the best. Just remember all the good times you two had together. I'm sure you gave your kitty a happy life, and in the end that's what really matters.
