He was my best friend for 14 years. How am I supposed to be happy without him?

I give you my condolences. I know what it's like to have a pet die. I used to have a pet fish that I loved like a brother until he died. Now I can't bear to get another one without bursting into tears. (RIP Link )

Losing a pet is always hard. They're like family members that don't judge you and love you unconditionally. I hope you make it through this okay (*hug*)

I'm so sorry to hear that, Lazuri. I know how close a companion a pet can be, especially after years together.
It's the best option for him, and everyone has to go some day, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier. Try to make the last hours as special as you can. Allow yourself to feel sad, it's completely normal. You'll need time to grieve.

I'm so sorry, losing a pet is never easy. I had to put my dog down in 2013, she was 19 years old. She was my best friend, all I can say is remember the good times you've shared with him. It'll be hard at first but just know it will get better!

By thinking of the good times you've shared together it will help you tremendously! I'm also sending thousands of hugs your way. Stay strong!

My grandma's dog was put down 10 years ago - I don't think I ever cried so much for anything before. I was completely devastated. That dog had been in my life for as long as I can remember - he was there before I was even born.

I am so sorry to hear that Lazuri, losing a pet can be so painful. Take the time that you need to grieve, and remember what a great life he shared with you. (*hug*) Those of us with pets know exactly what you're going through.

  12. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet. You are not alone, hang in there. It'll hurt like hell at first, but eventually, time does heals all wounds.

I've had to put down several animals. I mean, they're family members. Even years later, I still have a hard time thinking about some of the pets I've lost. Earlier this year, my family had to put down our German Shepard. Beautiful dog.

It's okay to grieve. What's important is that you remember the good times you had together.

I can't imagine what you are going through - try to focus on all the good times and think of how much of a happy life he had with you. That's a big plus for a dog - he got to be your best friend forever.

Oh my god I'm so sorry, that's awful. :frowning2: My friend lost her dog at Christmas last year. If I could hug you I would, it's just terrible that you have to lose your friend after all that time... :frowning2:

I feel so sad for you :frowning2: .
It's terribly hard to lose a pet, especially since they always love you no matter what.
It's sad to say Goodbye (I know it :frowning2:), but remember that not only YOU were happy with your dog but you also made him happy, and that's a wonderful thing to do to an animal.

    Hey Lazuri,

I'm sorry to hear that. I lost a dog before, that was with me since i was 3, it is indeed really hard to go through this.

But, like White Rose said, remember the great moments you had with your dog, and also remember that you also made him happy.

Like Lyana said, allow yourself to be sad. Everything will be fine, but allow yourself some time to grieve.

    Hugs, sincerely (*hug*)

Well, he's gone now. He was much, much more than a pet to me. I've had cats in the past and when they died, it was not even close to the way I feel now. Pepsi was a companion and my best friend in the entire world.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

You gave him a really good life, and that is truly priceless. (*hug*)
