Hi! I kind of have a thing for scarves and bandanas. I think they look really cool, and wearing one makes me feel like a video game character! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I was just wondering if I'd get any weird looks from people at school. I live in the UK and you don't see people wearing bandanas around the neck. I'm scared people would avoid me or judge me :frowning2: Is there any way I can stop feeling so self conscious about what I wear?

No, I don't think so, that's a pretty ordinary thing to do. I think it was more popular in the 70s, but I don't see why it would get you weird looks or anything.

You could start with one that closely matches the colour of your shirt so it's less noticeable and then branch out. If anyone comments, you could say you've been wearing them for ages now.

Be careful not to pull it up over your mouth. People tend to assume you're an outlaw.

You can start by wearing subtle, less flamboyant bandanas, until you get used to it.
And then proceed to wear whichever you like.

Upon reading that, I'm instantly reminded of Ringo.

But to get back on topic, it's best to wear things that are your style regardless of what others think. Back in high school I used to wear a trench coat and combat boots, with a pair of welding goggles around my neck. For the most part, nobody cared. Usually if somebody is going to comment on what you're wearing it's only the first few times since they've noticed you're trying something different, and after you've worn it for a while they often stop talking about it since it's normal for you.

Honestly, you may get the occasional look, but why should you care?! It's your own life, do whatever you want to make yourself happy tbh.

LOL! I read the title of this tread as "Would I get weird looks for wearing a banana around my neck?".

I was just about to come to ask why on earth would you want to wear a banana around your neck. Luckily I read some of the other people's comments and reread the title.
