I honestly have a great therapist, it's just that I end up getting side tracked by things that I wanted to talk about but aren't necessarily important if you know what I mean. Anyone know how this feels or have advice on how to not get side tracked? Thanks if you do!
Hi there Bricksighe, If you are comfortable with giving your therapist a list that you can make throughout the time in between sessions, that could be something you could try.
The above. I struggle with this too, to be honest. I am quite uncomfortable when it comes to self-disclosure, and often get distracted or clammish during sessions. But I find it helps to mentally review, before the therapy session, the points I want to talk about. Doing a little rehearsal is helpful for staying on track.
I agree with Silver Sparrow. If there are certain things that I want to discuss with my psychiatrist, I make a list because once I'm seated in front of her, all of the things I want to talk about, escape my mind and I only think about it again after the session. So I make a list, and then the only thing I need to remember, is to take it out, lol.
I have been to a few therapists now and still finding my self trying to get comfortable to talk to them, and talking about sex stuff, kind of like why I wanted to go , but also for my depression, but its like almost talking to my sister which is difficult enough.. what do you guys normally pay for a therapist if I can as a roundish figure I get 10 free per year in australia but after that they charge, (medicare) haven't gotten close to that yet...
