    Hey guys

So, I have an elven-style circlet that I really like, and I've never worn it because I'm afraid that it's cultural appropriation
It's Galadriel's circlet from Lord of the Rings

I know that circlets with gems that hang down are usually seen as cultural appropriation (for good reason), but what about circlets like this, especially since it's based off of a fantasy world? I really don't want to offend anyone by wearing it.

Who would you be offending, the elven royalty who wear circlets to distinguish themselves from the common Men and rabble?

What makes "cultural appropriation" different from simply wearing something is not understanding the significance of it. If a headdress of any kind is limited in use due to special meaning, learn about it first, then wear with caution. But that kind of circlet is reminiscent of a feudal hierarchy which no longer exists, or in the case of elves, never did. Don't fret so much about it. That thing is gorgeous.

    I don't see what's offensive about that.
