GOOGLE HAS ALL THE ANSWERS :3 Also: I LOVE YOUR PICTURE Copy and pasted Genderqueer may also refer to people who identify as both transgendered AND queer, i.e. individuals who challenge both gender and sexuality regimes and see gender identity and sexual orientation as overlapping and interconnected. Heterosexual: A person who is only attracted to members of the opposite sex.
I identify as a "lesbian" because I am a cisgender female who is romantically and sexually-attracted to other females (and really, only feminine females); yet, I choose to use "queer" interchangeably for political purposes, to pay homage to so many of the early LGBT activists who referenced themselves as such. I also use "queer" because it is merely a synonym for "odd," "weird," "strange," "atypical," "unusual," and the like, and not only is my sexual orientation "weird," but the fact that I am autistic is "weird," too.
You can just use queer as an umbrella term for the whole LGBT+ community. As HeavenMade already said it means "weird", etc. Homophobes used it as an insult for us, but the LGBT+ community took it and made it a word that describes non-heterosexual and/or cisgender folks.
I don't know why but I really don't mind being called queer.. I hate being called gay or f** but queer is just easier for me to say..
Three seconds on Google would give you a perfect answer, but yes, its original meaning was 'odd'/'quirky'. Homophobes thought we were odd and started calling us queer as an insult. But then we started using it ourselves as a definition for sexuality or gender, meaning 'anything other than straight/cis'. Some people are still offended by the word, while some see it as empowering. Queer is sometimes also used a lot when discussing the politics of sexuality/gender.
Cis or cisgender is the heterosexual of gender ---------- Post added 4th Jun 2016 at 06:24 PM ---------- Par exemple, I was born biologically male and I identify as strictly male so I am cisgender
How can you be heterosexual and gay at the same time, that makes no sense. Your description doesn't make sense to me. Anybody else?
i dont see how biologically u could be male and identify as anything else other than male or transgender..
I wasn't saying I'm heterosexual, I'm saying that it the gender equivalent of heterosexuality.. Cis is where you aren't trans or non binary or whatever.. You clearly misread ---------- Post added 4th Jun 2016 at 10:08 PM ---------- You can be biologically male (having a penis) but identify as female or non binary or a gender or bi gender, tri gender, the list goes on
I like using queer when telling people because they don't really understand the concept of human sexuality as merely a concept.
Sexual and gender identity isn't simple.. It's complex and on a spectrum with an enormous if not infinite range of different identities.. What is stupid is to think that all gender can be compressed into either cis or trans or that all sexualities are either same sex, opposite sex or both.. The more accurate acronym, though it is far from encompassing, is LGBTQIAA And also not to mention the probable separation of romantic and sexual attraction
Queer is sorta' an umbrella term for the LGBTQ+ community. Some people who are questioning call themselves queer instead of gay, lesbian, bi, pan e.t.c. Google defines it as "strange" or "peculiar".
Cis basically means that the person identifies as their birth sex. Example, I am a cisfemale (I was born as female, and identify as female). I am a bisexual cisfemale. Sexuality and gender do not always go hand-in-hand though, so don't let that confuse you Hope this clears up any confusion you've had
