Ever since I went away to summer camp 7 years ago, I've had issues being homesick. I get really sad and can't quit thinking about home whenever I'm away. When I went to a study abroad thing in Japan 2 years ago, I started getting over the home sickness after about a week but it was still lingering there. Starting in August though, I'll be living away from home and only visiting maybe once a month. Does anyone hae any suggestions for getting over home sickness or at least getting over it faster than one week?
I've had the same problem for a long time. I find the best way is to get engrossed in what you are doing. Really think of this as being part of a new adventure. Being social really does help to, so finding a good group of people can make a world of difference. Good luck and I wish you all the best!
