I'm probably gonna try and get a tattoo along my ribs tomorrow. I already got one on my left forearm but I hear the ribs are a whole different ball game. What I want will be fairly large and includes script. Just how bad will it hurt?

While I don't have tattoos myself, I know from research I've done when I was considering as well as from other people what areas hurt compared to others. The ribs are very close to the skin and don't have much muscle layers between the two, like an arm or a calf would. Since there isn't much of a barrier, you can expect a lot of pain from getting your ribs tattooed.

Given you said it's large, maybe have it broken up into a couple sessions to make the pain a bit easier to cope with.

Ribs are one of the most painful spots to get tatted. They look sick though
