I'm out to anyone who asks and to most of my family. However, I don't really broadcast it all that much. The place where I work has some borderline homophobic people - I love them, just not their views. But I'd like to change my status on Facebook to interested in women. I like to be transparent and all that. Has anyone else discreetly just changed the status? Does Facebook make an announcement, like it does for relationships and whatnot?

People would have to go to that part of your profile to see it.

If you don't want people seeing it, I would not change it. Facebook has changed so much over the years - when I first started, it was much easier to change things without people knowing. Now, even liking something can be broadcast to all of your friends. :frowning2:

As far as I know, Facebook makes an announcement of the change. That's how I came out to my Facebook friends/family members. If you currently have it hidden, I'd suggest you change it, and then just unhide it. Unfortunately I'm not sure if Facebook will announce it like when it's already visible

It doesn't announce it as far as I know. I know it doesn't make sense to but I restrict my "interested in" section depending on who knows and who I think are non judgemental.
