Just wondering if anyone has encountered this kind of comment. I was having a conversation with a straight male friend about past relationships. I've been in relationships with both men and women. This friend stated that my relationships with women "don't count." I was taken aback by this comment. Only heterosexual relationships count, according to him!?
I haven't but he's an idiot. Count for what? Learning what it takes to be in a relationship; what you like and are looking for? Experiencing others in the context of being romantic/sexual? It all counts.
Yeah, I hear this alllll the time, especially from straight dudes. They think that it only counts when a dude is involved. I also hear them bragging about taking a girl's virginity even though she's slept with women in a long term relationship before him. Gross!!!!
Homophobia comes in different shapes and sizes. Sometimes it can be embodied by undermining same sex relationships as compared to opposite sex ones. It's the same thing as claiming homosexual behavior is purely situational and acts as a 'phase' in one's life. A disgusting assumption to make, if you ask me.
The man is either uneducated or wants to annoy you for some reason. Or both. Don't waste your brainpower on his opinion .
Hi there! Agreed with the others. Your friend could benefit from some education. Have you had a further conversation with him since, and is he a good friend? Aside from this particular comment, has he ever expressed any other thoughts towards LGBTQ*? Having a better context to place the comment in, could help you in also thinking about as to how you might want to respond to a comment like this in the future (should it come up again). In many ways, you are the best person to educate him or provide a different perspective.
Can you ask your friend if the multiple orgasms i have daily count? Then tell him I said he is a retard and the only thing that doesn't count is his opinion.
