So I'm part of my school's acting troupe, and our spring play this year has a gay couple in it who kiss onstage!! One of my best friends and I have been wanting to play the those roles and we found out yesterday that we got them! My drama teacher was going to take out the kiss because she was worried about how the community would react, but in our experience the place we live is actually surprisingly accepting, so our other friend who's assistant directing convinced her to put it back in. It's a really cool play and it's really representative of the people in our troupe, and I'm really excited!
That sounds marvelous. Congratulations on getting the roles, and congrats on having a good community to perform in.
Anyone shocked by gay people in drama is not very familiar with the art. But as MisterMissy said, congrats! Getting the role you wanted has to be a great feeling.
