Still working on it Out Status: Out loud and so very proud Location: Kansas city, Mo Age: 23 Posts: 255 Join Date: Nov 2011 |  11 years is way to long! Okay so I'm 22 and have been smoking for almost 11 years! It's such a nasty habit and that's why I'm trying to quit..I've made such big steps this year to be happy, I finally came out and excepted myself for who I am...now I have a new goal, quit smoking before my 23rd birthday, which is only 3 months away! I've tried a few times before without success! So here I am about to give it yet another try!! Wish me luck everyone

Thing I hear that helps the most is making sure you have something to do during those times you used to smoke. For example: If you smoke walking between classes, then bring a pen to put in your mouth instead. Nicotine addiction only lasts three days. Breaking your habits is the hardest part. Good luck! |

Jessica,you can try to get prescription on Nicorette which is nicotine chewing gum. It is by far the most popular and successful smoking cessation treatment. There are many options when comes to quit smoking,just go to any pharmacist in your local area and ask for advice. The true barrier to quit smoking is yourself. You have to comply to the treatment schedule and be determined to do it. Advice from a 3rd year pharmacy student. Wish you lots of luck.Can't wait for you to join the smoke-free community |

I think that you will be able to do by your birthday, studies show that it will only take four weeks of not doing something to fully give it up. I hope that helps because I don't smoke so I'm not sure how to quit. |
