Default No hair on my burn

Early last year I burnt my arm on a soldering iron (something to melt a type of metal which is soft and melts before other metals). I had to get my arm bandaged so it couldn't possible get infected as I am allergic to antibiotics. The hair got burnt off, but it has never grown back at where I got burnt, so now I have a bald patch of skin that looks scarred. Why hasn't the hair grown back yet?

I've had similar burns (from working in a restaurant) where the hair doesn't grow back. Now I should mention: I'm no doctor, but I believe it has something to do with the scar tissue being too dense for the hair to grow through. Either that or the heat cauterized the hair follicles and now nothing will grow there.

As I said, I'm not a doctor, but I've had a similar experience or two. Although I've also had burns where the hair did eventually come back after a while.

I think a burn that bad would damage the hair follicles. A lot of connective tissue rather than epithelial tissue replaced the wound, and connective tissue doesn't really grow hair like normal skin does.

epithelial = skin, connective (ie. collagen fibers) = scar tissue.

Sorry about that.

Since scars go away after long period of time, especially if they're more superficial, then the scar tissue will go away and you'll probably have it looking totally normal eventually too.

I have the same thing on my arm. Someone stuck me to a table with a 200 degree hot glue gun when they found out I was gay... after about three years it is now almost normal looking but no hair. My doctor explained to me that because it was deep it destroyed the hair folecules so none will grow there again. Try not to worry about it because there is nothing that can change it.... but you can change how you perceive it xx

They still are. I saw them just over a month ago doing community service, walking behind a dustcart picking up the rubbish people throw out of their cars. Gay or not I am making something of myself and he is (literally) in the gutter because his straight penis keeps finding its way out of his pants at inappropriate times xx

It's people like that who deserve to have their arm glued to a table!

The thing is I would not glue them to the table, even given the chance because I am to nicer person to do it. Maybe thats my problem, letting people hurt me and never fighting back xx

once a hair follicle is damaged it won't grow again.

Scars give you personality, make up some awsome story about how you saved a puppy from a blazing inferno.

not all violence no.... I think that some people deserve what they get and if someone wants to solve things with violence then as long as they take responsibility for it then so be it. I personally am not violent to anyone, well except myself xx
