But they did use the contrast agent... Gadolinium. He said it was 10 cc or something and the one that apparently is one of the safest ones for getting nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. Anywho.... it went fine. I didn't feel much of anything. It wasn't very loud. The table did vibrate a bit and stuff but ya even after the injection I felt nothing different. Oh and no claustrophobia at all for me. They put a movie thing on my eyes so I could see a movie but I didn't really watch it. When I got up I was a bit dizzy and like hit the wall trying to get to the door and stuff. xD But I drove home and feel mostly fine for now... I'm curious if there's anything I can do to help my kidney's deal with the gadolinium any better? I heard drinking a lot of water can actually stress the kidneys more. =P Idk I'm weird and crazy I know. So any ideas?

Chelated gadolinium is excreted by the kidneys. Just drink adequate amount of liquid- most of the contrast is excreted 24 hours after injection.

I had an MRI about a week ago and the hardest part for me was trying not to sneeze the whole time to keep my head still. But I agree with what KaraBulut said, just keep drinking lots of water and you will feel better. |

I had a little more than usual but not as much as I should have!! )= Hopefully that didn't do anything. Does the chelated ganolinium stress the kidneys at all? Also I found it weird they'd use contrast to test for bleeding... :P what if it was bleeding? Wouldn't the poisonous contrast in my blood then leak into my brain and not be able to be filtered by my kidneys? @mlpguy88 I had a similar problem. Whenever they tell me to stay still, I start to think about it and it makes my body twitch. Idk its weird. :P

Most metals would be stored in body tissues if the body were unable to excrete them via the kidneys. The chelation process makes the metal soluble so that it can be excreted by the kidneys. It also makes it able to be filtered via dialysis. Gadolinium does not stress the kidney unless there is pre-existing kidney disease. The reason that we recommend fluid intake is that salts and electrolytes require water to excrete, so the more water, the more rapid the excretion process. |

![]() Keep in mind that most foods you consume are about 90-95% liquid, so between meals and drinking liquids, most people are getting adequate liquid intake. If you do aerobic exercise or if it's unusually hot outside, you may need to be more conscious of water intake but for the most part, just drinking a couple of extra glasses of water between meals is enough to clear contrast from your system.

I did make it a point to eat extra fruits and veggies so hopefully that helped maybe. Thanks
