New guy looking for advice

So about a month ago i had anal sex for the first time with an 8" guy. I had used toys before so even though it was a bit too thick for me it wasn't too bad in terms of thickness. However, he hit my sigmoid colon a couple times and i felt that dull pain i've read about. I was wondering what ya'll do in situations like that? i'd like to be able to take in all 8" of him but i didn't try to last time cuz i was worried about damaging my intestine. is there like a certain position or something to help it push into the sigmoid colon?

I'd say wait for Kara, or message him, other than that all I can think of is either don't take him all the way, or more lubrication, the colon is rather large so unless you have like a twelve inch going up there, I don't think he's going to reach your intestines

Hi, and first off, welcome to EC. You're definitely in the right place to talk about such things.

Please do keep in mind, though, that there are about 20 times the number of people who read EC than people who are members (and therefore can post.) So 60+ views could easily be 60+ people who aren't even members and therefore cannot respond. Now, on to your question... I think people haven't responded because particularly when it comes to issues like this, nobody wants to give bad information that could be potentially harmful, so many of us tend to defer to Kara Bulut, our medical expert.

I think waiting for a more informed reply from him is a good idea, but in the meantime, I can say this: there are a lot of gay guys out there who are 8" and longer who are tops... and you don't ever hear of somebody getting their colon punctured by a penis... therefore it's extremely unlikely, unless your colon is in some way very abnormal or unusual.

If you aren't used to bottoming, it can take a while to allow yourself to relax the inner sphincter, so it seems likely that's the discomfort you're feeling, and that's pretty normal, just takes a bit of practice and focus to allow that part of yourself to relax and enjoy the experience.

There's also an old thread on the forum about this very issue.

It takes about 2 inches to pass through the anus- mostly because, unless you're very thin or you're in a very unusual position, the muscles of the buttocks add some distance. The rectum is about 4-5 inches long. So, it takes a good 7 inches before you get to the descending colon (aka the "sigmoid colon" or pelvic colon).

What causes a problem for some guys is a sharp turn that the colon makes when it joins the rectum. It's a bit like an "S" on its side only it's in 3 dimensions not 2. It turns up, then to the side and then twists upward again to join the descending colon. This junction is what some guys feel like they "hit" during deep fucking but generally this would only be in certain positions.

Usually, positions like squatting (cowboy/reverse cowboy) straighten this area of the colon so it's not as difficult to make the twist.

thank you kara bulut. this may sound weird but can you discuss is it safe or even meant for things to go in your rectum? is the body meant/made for that? i know the vagina is, but what about the rectum. i heard there are pleasure centers in the prostate. not sure how prostate and rectum and attached but anyway, what i want to know is, if the rectum is anotehr pleasure hole, how come more straight people dont use it?

In one of the threads I linked, I believe a member had asked something very similar. There's some evangelical Christian websites that make comments about "the fragile colon" and how anal sex is unnatural which is why people get AIDS.

That's a bunch of hogwash.

The colon is anatomically much like the mouth- lots of gentle tissue on the inside lining but a pretty tough, muscular outside that is designed to take a beating. And like the mouth, it heals pretty well and has a pretty active immune system.

I've made this comment before but it's worth repeating: things that you would put in your ass during sex aren't much different than the size of the stuff that normally comes out of it when you go to the bathroom. So, your rectum and anus are used to things in that size range.

Well, nature didn't really make the anus and rectum for sex. But it also didn't make the mouth or the hand for sex either.

The are some religious biases- several of the bigger religions out there are of the opinion that sex is only for making babies. So, masturbation, oral sex, anal sex and anything that doesn't make a baby is viewed negatively.

The religious issue is one I can't resolve but I can tell you that anatomically and medically, there's nothing particular unnatural about anal sex, oral sex, handjobs or anything that falls outside of heterosexual vaginal sex.

Straight people do. More than you would believe.

There was a study recently that gave percentages about how many straight people had anal sex. It's not uncommon at all. The studies attribute this to several reasons- probably the biggest reason is that because straight porn has glamorized anal sex. The other reasons cited were:

• Fear of pregnancy.
• Like oral sex, allows young women to have sex with a boyfriend but remain a "virgin".
• Curiosity.
